Im sure there are electric violas, theres electric everything else. People will mistake your viola for a violin. In other words, the thickest, lowest string on the left is the C String, the next string is the G String, the next String is the D String, and the last, skinniest, highest string is the A String - the D String is probably the most commonly used string. Heifetz used a plain gut A string along with wrapped D and G string.

It is more mezzo than contralto and it seems to be fond of high tension strings, which puts me a bit out of my reckoning as I'm not as familiar with those types of strings.
